Morris Arboretum: More Than 12,000 Plants in Bloom

You can visit Asia, Europe, and far-away parts of North America without ever leaving Philly at the Morris Arboretum. Tucked away in idyllic Chestnut Hill not far from Amity Commons, the sprawling garden houses plants from all around the globe, more than 12,000 of them, to be more precise. Among those 12,000 plants are 2,500 different species, all stemming from the personal collection of namesake John Morris.

He loved discovering new and exotic plants around the world, and the arboretum's staff continues to scour the globe today looking for fresh plants to add to the mix. That's why the arboretum always has something in bloom and is continuously growing. Its largest and most impressive displays of blooms include eclectic shades of roses, maples and magnolias, azaleas and witch hazel, and conifers and holly trees. See the arboretum's website for updated listings of what's in bloom at any time of the year.
